Born & raised in a family with strong Maori values my first Rugby League Club was the New Lynn Stags from 1973 – 1982. They were known as the Falcons back then and only a schoolboy club. I was invited to transfer to the Mt Albert U15’s in 1983 where I had my first taste of travelling, the team toured Australia on an unbeaten tour that same year, and it was also this trip that sewed the travelling bug deep within me. The remainder of my football career in NZ was with the Glenora Bears from 1984 until leaving overseas at the end of the 88 season.           

The dream was to play in the UK but like most kiwis who had ventured north on their big OE goals can change quite quickly. After an unsuccessful stint with London based Fulham Rugby League in 1989-90 I spent 3 fantastic years playing with South London (Amateur London Kiwi & Aussie based team) until joining the London Crusaders in 1993, that same year they evolved into the London Broncos.

Whilst building a life in the UK I had already gone into business with the creation of SANZ in 1991 and with the birth of my eldest son in 1994 a decision had to be made between football and business. With a family now in the equation there was no denying which one had to go for long term purposes so I chose business and retired from the game that I love so much at the ripe young age of 26 in 1995.

From 1995 to date I have been fortunate to experience some of the most tremendous adventures in life & business that one could ever dream of. It has taken me around the globe first class, to red carpet events, socializing with celebrities in all walks of life, it has also taken me through some of the toughest and darkest times in my life in both business and family only to come round in full circle………. back to simplicity and back to those same family values I was raised on.

My life experiences cannot be taught in any institution,  ‘The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, they are all the experiences that I bring to the table in order to provide a real understanding, a real perspective of what it takes to become a successful, professional athlete.
